Majlis supports negotiating team: Speaker

Tehran, April 6, IRNA - Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that the lawmakers would continue their support for negotiating team. He made the remarks in a meeting with the staff of Majlis. He noted that Lausanne statement is a positive sign of resolution of nuclear issue. Larijani hoped that the negotiations would lead to termination of all sanctions and in the meantime, guarantee Iran's right for peaceful use of nuclear energy. Meanwhile, Larijani expressed concern about waves of violence and bloodshed in the Middle East the region. He said that the humanitarian situation in the Middle East has been deteriorated due to escalation of terrorism in the region including Iraq, Syria and Libya. He rebuked the Saudi government for indiscriminate bombardment of civilian targets in Yemen and said that the Saudi Arabia perpetrated war crimes in Yemen. 'Such attacks are humanitarian disaster serving the Israeli interest.' Iran and Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) after nine days of hard work reached an understanding which laid the ground for them to go ahead with drafting the final nuclear deal. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on April 2 that according to the framework understanding, the UN Security Council will pass a resolution to terminate the sanctions adopted by the body in addition to the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union as per the final deal. ''Our decision today that will be the agreed base for the final text of the Joint Plan of Action (the final deal) is of vital importance,'' Zarif said reading out a joint statement at a press conference with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in Lausanne, Switzerland.
