Malaysia, Thailand working on MoU on border issues

BANGKOK, March 17 (TNA) - Thailand and its neighbor Malaysia will sign a Memorandum of Understanding the issue of people holding dual citizenship. Supreme Commander Thanchaiyan Srisuwan said about the result of the 54th Thailand-Malaysia General Border Committee (GBC) meeting in Bangkok on Thursday that participants at the meeting discussed ways to resolve several problems, including dual citizenship -- Thai and Malaysian -- and security along their border. The supreme commander said both sides are working on the details of the MoU to resolve issues pertaining to dual citizenship and it will not take a long time. However, the violence in southern Thailand was not raised during the meeting. Touching on joint military exercise, he said military officials of the two countries have been engaging in the exercise at several levels, mostly on disaster relief. (TNA)
