Maliki meets with Arab League Secretary General: Iraq ready to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad next year

Baghdad (NINA) - Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, stressed "Iraq's readiness to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad next year." A statement issued by the Cabinet quoted Maliki as saying during his meeting with the AL Secretary General, Nabeel Al Arabi, and his accompanying delegation today that "Iraq stands by the peoples’ right to claim their freedom and achieve their dignity," calling for "following the methods of achieving the peoples’ goals without resorting to wars and violence.” For his part, Arabi said "we are determined to hold the next Arab Summit in Baghdad, and we will pay another visit to discuss details of holding it in an accurate way." Arabi reiterated "support for Iraq’s vision and to achieve the required changes in a peaceful context." The meeting also discussed the current developments in some Arab countries. Arabi reviewed the sufferings of some Arab countries and their unstable conditions. Arabi arrived in Baghdad yesterday noon in an official visit. /End/
