Management and Planning Organization revived

Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani has ordered reestablishment of the Management and Planning Organization which was dissolved under his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In a Monday afternoon session of the Supreme Administrative Council presided over by First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri, the participants agreed with the outlines of a plan to revive MPO. Speaking at the session, Jahangiri said the organization is a must for the developing countries with short and long-term planning. He underlined the need for sound management of the state affairs and revival of the MPO as well as removal of its weak points and said MPO should be a brisk organization which can regulate and soundly supervise over the planning system. The Management and Planning Organization will be reestablished upon merger of the two Administrative and Recruitment Organization and Plan and Budget Organization, the latter founded in 1948. Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ordered dissolution of MPO on July 9, 2007 and replaced it by two new organizations: VP for Planning and Strategic Supervision; and VP for Development of Management and Human Resource. Experts believe that revival of the Management and Planning Organization in addition to accelerating realization of vision plans will create a positive development in planning, budgeting and administrative structure and as a result overall development of the country. Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, Vice-President for Planning and Strategic Supervision said the Supreme Administrative Council approved revival of MPO by merging the two VP organizations. Nobakht further remarked: “We do not expect to return to the same organization but our decision is to establish the Management and Planning Organization as a brisk and active organization with sound supervision.”/end
