Maneuvers Aiming To Strengthen Defense Capabilities : IRGC Commander

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Saturday that holding drills in the country aim at strengthening the defense capabilities of the armed forces against the enemies. Jafari told reporters that the maneuvers do not seek to make any actions against "our friends and neighbors." He then stressed that Iran's military and naval drills are held to test the defense readiness of the armed forces. In reaction to Canada's measure to remove the name of the Mojahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from the list of terrorist groups and adding Iran's Qods Force to that list, the IRGC commander said Ottawa was expected to do that. He then added the arrogant powers including Canada are trying to safeguard their own interests, so they support the terrorist groups to achieve that end./end
