Medvedev satisfied with Russia-Iraq cooperation and hopes for its further development

MOSCOW, May 21. /TASS/. Bilateral relations between Russia and Iraq are currently on the rise, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told visiting Iraqi Premier Haider al-Abadi. "This is your first visit , which confirms the commitment of the Iraqi leadership to continue the development of multi-faceted cooperation with our country," Medvedev said. "We cherish our friendship with Iraq and, despite the dramatic developments of the recent years and the difficulties experienced by the Iraqi people, the bilateral relations are on the rise today," he noted. "We are glad to support and promote cooperation with Iraq at the government level," he added. "At present, parliamentary ties are being strengthened, as well as ties between the Business Councils." The Russian prime minister expressed hope that the visit of his Iraqi counterpart would contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries. Read more
