Mehmanparast Blasts Violent Suppression Of Peaceful Uprisings

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast blasted any kind of violent confrontations with peaceful popular uprisings. He said Iran believed that offering proper responses to legitimate demands of people by regional governments was the right way to deal with the uprisings. According to a Foreign Ministry report here on Sunday, he made the remarks while commenting on the content of a report compiled by a fact-finding committee the members of which are “appointed” by Bahraini king. The spokesman also noted that Iran has repeatedly stressed its policies towards the rising trend of Islamic Awakening in the region. He said Iran believed that interference of foreign military and security forces in the internal affairs of these countries merely resulted in further complication of situation and deepening of existing gaps between nations and their governments. Mehmanparast further said that the content of the report released by the fact-finding committee indicates violent behavior towards Bahraini people and extensive violation of their rights. He hoped that Bahrain’s rulers would give a proper response to the rightful demands of people by avoiding violence and suppressive methods./end
