M.Enkhbold meets parliament member of Cyprus

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Vice Speaker of parliament M.Enkhbold Wednesday received Mr Stavros Evagorou, a member of the House of Representatives (parliament) of Cyprus and member of the Standing committee on finance and budget. Mr Enkhbold wished the Cyprus parliamentary delegation a nice visit here, and thanked them for taking part in the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP9) running here. He said Mongolia is organizing several high-level meetings ahead of the ASEM Summit11 in UB, and Mongolia is attaching a great importance to hosting the ASEP9, hoping that this big event will contribute to the relations and cooperation of Asian and European countries with parliamentary governance. Noting that the visit of the Cypriot delegation of parliament will make the bilateral relations and cooperation more dynamic and will open new opportunities of the ties, Mr Enkhbold said the countries are possible to boost the collaboration in education and scientific spheres. The Vice Speaker pointed out that Mongolia accepted last year a draft memorandum of from Cyprus on cooperating in the higher education sector, and Mongolia will reply to this proposal in a near future. He added that Mongolia has a willingness to learn experiences and achievements of Cyprus in sciences and education. In turn, Mr Evagorou expressed gratitude to the Vice Speaker for a warm audience, and thanked Mongolia and Mongolian parliament for hosting the ASEP9, wishing a successful organization of the big event. “There are very few things to make the Asian and European continents separate, but many things to make it closer. Thus, the ties between Asia and Europe have broad opportunities. Cyprus is a member of the European Union. We are ready to all steps in the relations and cooperation between the EU and Mongolia. I also have observed an intensive development of Mongolia,” Mr Evagorou said. “You said Mongolia focuses attention to creating new technologies. We are ready to cooperate with Mongolia in this field. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus is a small country with an ancient history. Tourism is our main industry, and I am pleased to say that my country has set a goal to become a center of legal sector,” Mr Evagorou said. Then he underlined the two countries are possible to hold bilateral meetings and visits within an agreement between Mongolia and the EU. At the end of the meeting, the Vice Speaker expressed a hope that Cyprus will participate in the upcoming ASEM Summit11 with a high-level composition. The meeting was witnessed by Ts.Narantungalag, head of the External Relations Division at the Parliamentary Election; and other officials.
