Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Int'l Cooperation inaugurates consular section in Cairo

ABU DHABI, 27th May 2016 (WAM) --- Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Elham Al Dhaheri, has opened the consular section and a fifth visa-issuing centre in Cairo. The new section will streamline and speed up issuing Emirati visas for Egyptians and other nationals who reside in Egypt and speed up their entry into the UAE through e-gates at the UAE's points of entry. In his opening speech, Al Dhaheri expressed appreciation of the Egyptian government's efforts in promoting bilateral relations with the UAE in several spheres. He said the opening of the two new facilities is aimed at bolstering consular cooperation, improve customer service and facilitate entry of workers into the UAE. Present at the opening ceremony were Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptian Expatriates, Hisham Al Nakeeb, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Juma Mubarak Al Jenaibi, and others. Al Nakeeb said the two new facilities represent an important development in bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed appreciation of the UAE's positive initiative. He praised the new visa-issuing system as one of the world's most efficient and one that saves time. The responsibilities of the new centre include verification of passports, biometrics including eyeprint ID, commission medical tests through 12 centres accredited by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention to identify individuals with contagious diseases and therefore save costs.
