MODI NAMES HIS MONGOLIAN HORSE “KANTHAKA”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ After an official banquet lunch on May 17, the Prime Minister of India accompanied by his Mongolian counterpart Ch.Saikhanbileg legged the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and laid a foundation of the Information Technology, Communication and Outsourcing Center named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee. An IT Training Center named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee was established in October, 2002, on the financing of Indian Government’s non-refundable aid worth one million USD. The Indian side resolved to invest 20 million USD for the construction of the Outsourcing Center. The officials say that a tender will be announced for the construction of eight-story building of the center and the installment of new laboratory equipment. Mr Narendra Modi also attended a ceremony for handing the National Oncology Center a radio-treatment stimulator and Tele-cobalt complex Bhabhatron-II cancer treatment machine, which was designed by Indian scientists. The machine will start operation in next September, when the Indian professionals will come here to give training to the Mongolian oncologists. According to the Center, some 60-70 patients receive radiotherapy every day, and the new machine will improve the capacity of the radio-cabinet by two-fold. Afterwards, a mini “Naadam” festival was organized for the Indian PM at the “Chingisiin Khuree” leisure complex. Mr Modi watched the three manly games of Mongolia – wrestling, horse-race, and archery. There were other performances such as contortions and traditional music performances. The Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg presented a red-roan horse to his Indian colleague as a gift. The horse was given a name “Kanthaka” by Mr Modi, who explained that this was the name of Buddha’s horse. The Indian Prime Minister tried his hands at playing morin-khuur (the horse-head fiddle) and dulchimer, as well as at archery.
