Mogherini, Rouhani hold talks on economic coop.

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini who is Iran as part of the EU’s outreach on Syrian crisis, held talks with Iranian President Rouhani on expansion of relations. The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday in Tehran, following her meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the Syrian crisis. According to Hamid Aboutalebi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President for Political Affairs who had previously served as ambassador of Iran the European Union, the key topics of discussion between President Rouhani and the EU foreign policy chief included the implementation of the JCPOA and the commitments of the sides, particularly the European Union, to the nuclear deal, the expansion of relations between Iran and the EU, as well as development of economic cooperation. “The structural relations of Iran and the EU, the two sides’ political cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, communications, etc., stability of the Middle East and joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism, were other topics of discussion between the two officials,” Aboutalebi said in a tweet. Mogherini will depart for Riyadh later in the day to discuss the Syrian situation with Saudi officials.
