MONGOLIA AND JAPAN SIGN GRANT AID NOTE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of the Foreign Affairs L.Bold and the Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Mr T.Shimizu Tuesday signed an exchange note on soft loan and grant aid to be given by the government of Japan to Mongolia. In frames of the document, the Japanese side will give seven billion 535 million JPY or some 75 million USD soft loan to the “Engineering Higher Education” project, a non-project aid of 750 million JPY or 7.5 million USD, and a cultural non-refundable of 71 million 700 thousand JPY or some 700 thousand USD to our country. The education project intends to involve a thousand Mongolian students of engineering and technical science in a four-year study program, to run professional trainings and seminars, and to set up hi tech in laboratories and scientific experiment classes. The non-project facility aid will include comprehensive medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment such as echocardiography and facilities for surgery and intensive treatment controlling. This equipment will be supplied to the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and to Maternity Hospitals. A project themed “TV software improvement” is to be funded by the cultural grant aid to focus on refining the TV educational programs and to promote Japanese language and culture via programs. It will be carried out in the Mongolian Public Radio and Television.
