Mongolia and TIKA want to expand cooperation in cultural spheres

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On February 2, the Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey B.Batkhishig received newly appointed country manager for Mongolia of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) Weisel Chiftch. The Ambassador spoke highly of the fact that TIKA has implemented projects worth 30 million dollars in Mongolia and emphasized the need to further increase the number of projects such as the extension of the Orkhon valley tourist complex and renovation of Kharkhorin airport. The country manager expressed his consonance and requested assistance from Mongolian side on the establishment of a historical museum next to the Tonyukuk stelae near Nalaikh city. During the last year’s expedition, a ceremony site and other artifacts were found alongside the stelae. The Turkic Empire resided the present-day Mongolian territory in 552-745 AD and the sage Tonyukuk was the renowned political and military figure of the Empire.
