MONGOLIA AT COMPREHENSIVE NUCLEAR-TEST-BAN TREATY DISCUSSION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Foreign Minister L.Bold has taken part in the seventh Ministerial conference on Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The measure ran September 27. The treaty has been joined by 183 countries since its establishment in 1996, but the ratification process by every member-governments has been a hold for the effectiveness until now. Mongolia, who has shown full support for the treaty, declared itself a nuclear-weapon free state and has had the UN validated this status. Among those prominent who took the floor at the conference were Mr Bang Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General, John Kerry, the State secretary of the USA, and our FM Bold. The participants adopted a joint statement on partial and comprehensive test-ban treaties. Mr Bold also met with the executive secretary of the CTBT Organization Lassina Zerbo. The latter stated that Mongolia’s nuclear-weapon free status and the "UB Dialogue" on security of North-East Asia have been highly appreciated by the UN, and expressed a willingness to organize regional a conference in Ulaanbaatar jointly with the Mongolian Government and the UN. Then the sides discussed some other matters as well.
