MONGOLIA TO IMPLEMENT SENDAI FRAMEWORK

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 13, the Minister of Health and Sports G.Shiilegdamba received the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction Margareta Wahlstrom. She is paying a visit here as invited by the Deputy PM U.Khurelsukh. The sides discussed an implementation in Mongolia of the Sendai Framework for 2015-2030, adopted at the Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, held this March 14-18 in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. A non-vacant state health office for preventing disasters operates, headed by the Minister G.Shiilegdamba, at the Ministry. The main responsibilities of the office are to prevent disasters, to provide medical services to people in times of disasters, to prevent epidemic diseases, to eliminate the epicenters and consequences. The Minister said that this office will implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction and will ensure the coordination between the emergency institutes, in order to provide sufficient medical services.
