MONGOLIA-JAPAN FORUM OF AGRICULTURE HELD

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolia-Japan first forum of agricultural sector took place on Thursday in Ulaanbaatar, with a participation of delegates of some 200 Mongolian and Japanese state-run and private entities. Opening remarks were made by Ms R.Burmaa MP, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, and by Mr Takenori Shimizu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia. Aimed to contribute to the bilateral friendly cooperation, the forum is upgrading a partnership between businessmen of the two agricultural spheres, Burmaa said. A president of Japan’s Agricultural Community Koga Issei emphasized that a combination of Mongolian wide territory and Japanese high tech could lead to fruitful results. Officials from Japan’s Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, from Shizuoka and Hokkaido Prefectures, and Japanese companies delivered reports to express their opinions and to make proposals. A department head of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture gave a report on a possibility of exporting agricultural products to Japan, while teachers of the Mongolian University of Agriculture--on technical conditions of our agricultural sector. A report was also delivered on rice planting and market in Mongolia. The forum was supported by the parliamentary Standing committee on environment, food and agriculture, the Embassy of Japan in Mongolia, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Mongolia-Japan Center.
