MONGOLIAN AMBASSADOR TO VISIT IU BLOOMINGTON

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ About it said Indiana University Bloomington (Bloomington IU) on its website on Thursday. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the USA Mr B.Altangerel will visit the university on February 24. He also intends to give a free public lecture about "Social and economic development of Mongolia, the past and present" at the Bridgwaters Lounge of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center. The event is to be co-run by Mongolia Society, Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center, Department of Central Eurasian Studies and Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center. Mr Altangerel has a master’s degree in international law and political sciences and a Ph.D. in international law from Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University of Ukraine. He is also the nonresident ambassador to Israel and Mexico. He has worked the Mongolian ambassador to Turkey, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland and Iceland, has represented his country's interests in Bulgaria, Lebanon, Romania and Uzbekistan. IU is considered one of the world's leading centers of academic expertise in Mongolian studies, and IU's Department of Central Eurasian Studies in the School of Global and International Studies is the sole independent, degree-granting academic unit in the U.S., staffed with its own faculty of specialists in the region. Last year, IU's Kelley School of Business entered into a partnership with the newly formed American University of Mongolia to offer graduate programs.
