MONGOLIAN FM MEETS MCC COMPACT OPERATIONS’ VICE PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Purevsuren received July 17 Mr Kamran Khan, the vice president of the Compact Operations Department of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. in frames of his official visit to the USA. L.Purevsuren said he is satisfied with the intensified cooperation in a preparation of selecting projects for the second compact with Mongolia. The agreement on allocating non-refundable aid for development of the second compact has been ratified by the State Great Khural, the FM noted. He asked Mr Khan to convey his gratitude to Mr Dana Hyde for her recent successful and fruitful visit to Mongolia. He also expressed a confidence that the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s second compact in Mongolia will contribute greatly to the significant spheres of Mongolia. The first compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation--a U.S. Government body in charge of assistance to developing countries--was signed in 2007, allocating here USD 285 million and implementing five projects on capital rights, suburban pastoral lands, specialized education, healthcare, auto-road and on fighting air pollution, in 2008-2013. Mongolia was re-selected by the MCC Board on December 10 of 2014 as an eligible for a second compact operation country.
