MONGOLIAN GOVERNMENT INVITES JAPANESE TO TENDERS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Economic Development Minister N.Batbayar Friday received Mr Takenori Shimizu, the Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia. The sides shared views on many prominent issues, including ongoing projects funded by Japanese soft loans and grants, and economic measures planned by the Ministry in order to sustain stability of currency rate and to increase export incomes. They also talked about global economic trends. Ongoing projects financed by the Japanese part include those of the Hoshogt valley airport construction in Tov province and the power plant-4 renovation in Ulaanbaatar. The plant renovation project in planned to be completed by August of 2017, while the airport is projected to come to service in 2016. The Minister introduced to the Ambassador a list of projects to be implemented under concession agreements with the Mongolian Government, and requested him to encourage the Japanese firm to take part in the Government tenders. He also noted that the Government prefers public-private partnership in its large-scale projects. Noting about upcoming Mongolia-Japan intergovernmental partnership meeting scheduled this May in Tokyo, the Minister asked the Ambassador to attract to it representatives of private sectors of the two countries rather than public officials.
