Moscow again ready to host inter-Syrian talks - diplomat

MOSCOW, May 14. /TASS/. Moscow is again ready to become the venue for a new inter-Syrian meeting, Russia’s presidential envoy on the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Thursday. "If our Syrian partners want to meet once again in Moscow, we are always glad to offer a platform to them," the Russian diplomat stressed. "Many [Syrians] want, this is not ruled out," he added. Intensive meetings of the United Nations special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura currently continue in Geneva, Switzerland, Bogdanov said. He wants to listen separately to Syrians, regional players and international participants, including Russia. "He needs to understand how we see the current situation in the Syrian issue and listen to the assessments in connection with the prospects of fulfilling the June 30, 2012 Geneva Communique," he explained. The round of meetings in Geneva will last for six weeks, the diplomat said. Russia’s envoy to international organizations in Geneva, Alexei Borodavkin, will be responsible to detail Russia’s stance on the issue. Read more
