Moscow and Ankara to continue dialogue on regional problems - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, June 24 /TASS/. Russia and Turkey have pledged to continue dialogue on key regional problems, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday after consultations between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is the Russian president’s representative for the Middle East and Africa, and Turkish First Deputy Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu. "After the consultations, the sides confirmed the need for a regular dialogue between Moscow and Ankara on key aspects of regional situation," the ministry said. The Middle East was also part of the agenda. "The sides had a comprehensive exchange of views on the situation in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen with a focus on the need to reach the earliest political settlement of crises in those countries; provide humanitarian assistance to the population hit by the ongoing military and political conflicts as well as consolidate the international community’s efforts with an aim to give a resolute rebuff to a terrorist threat posed by the Islamic State," the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The sides also touched upon other international problems of mutual interest. Read more
