Moscow, Beijing prepare to sign 22 documents during Putin’s visit to China - Russian ambassador

BEIJING, August 20. /TASS/. Russia and China are preparing to sign 22 agreements during the visit of President Vladimir Putin to China, Russia’s Ambassador to Beijing Andrei Denisov said on Thursday. On September 3, Putin is due to travel to China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to join in commemorations of the 70th anniversary of China’s victory over Japanese forces as well as the broader defeat of the Axis powers and the end of World War II, in which China and the Soviet Union were allies. During the visit, Putin and other members of the Russian delegation are expected to hold a range of talks with the Chinese party to discuss trade and economic cooperation. "I can say that we have 22 documents on the list," Denisov said, adding that these documents are related to the infrastructure construction and the financial and banking sector. The ambassador also said that late on September 2 Putin may attend a dinner given by the Chinese president for the leaders of states participating in the celebrations. At talks, the Russian side will be represented by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, who heads the intergovernmental commission on investments, and Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, who is in charge of cooperation in the energy sphere, Denisov said. "We also expect to see the CEOs of our energy and metals companies, and also transport companies, as we have many transport projects," the ambassador said. Read more
