Moscow Believes Pressure On Iran Will Hinder Iran-G5+1 Talks

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA -- Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said on Saturday that building up pressures on Iran during talks with the G5+1 would bring about problems. Speaking to IRNA, Dzhagaryan said, “Adding up pressure on Iran thrugh unilateral or UN Security Council sanctions will create impediments to negotiations in the context of Iran-G+1 talks.” Asked about Russian stance towards the pressures piled up on Iran because of its peaceful nuclear program, Dzhagaryan noted that the sanctions are issued mostly to create problems for Iranian people and harm the country’s economy. “Unilateral sanctions account for violation of international rights,” opined the diplomat, adding that the measures are not acceptable from Russian views. Underlining continued constructive cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Russian envoy said Moscow is confident that Iran would prove the peaceful nature of its nuclear program if continues constructive cooperation with the IAEA. Under such conditions Tehran would eliminate the ground for any pressure and sanctions, foiling attempts of those considering force as an alternative for diplomatic efforts, said Dzhagaryan. Elsewhere in the interview, Dzhagaryan said Iran is entitled to peaceful use of nuclear program. Commenting on prospect of Iran-Russia nuclear cooperation, the diplomat said any future cooperation in this concern would depend on the two parties new agreement./end
