Moscow expects serious discussion at UN Security Council meeting on combating terrorism

UNITED NATIONS, September 29./ TASS/. Moscow hopes to discuss a whole array of problems at a meeting of the UN Security Council on combating terrorism on September 30, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin told reporters on Tuesday. "We look forward to a serious discussion, a detailed conversation on the problems of the Middle East and the fight against terrorism," the diplomat said. When asked whether a statement will be adopted, he said, "No, there will be no statement." Churkin earlier told TASS that the United States had blocked the draft statement of the Chairman of the UN Security Council proposed by Russia on conflict resolution in the Middle East. "The statement has been blocked, the Americans said that they would not work on our statement," the diplomat said. He declined to comment on the arguments presented by the American side. "I will not tell you everything. They said that we had too many disagreements," the ambassador added. Read more
