MP: Anti-Iran HR Resolution Targets Country's Prestige

Tehran, Dec 23, IRNA – Member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad-Saleh Jokar said on Saturday that the anti-Iran human rights resolution issued by the United Nations indicates that they seek to damage Iran's prestige at international level. Speaking to IRNA, he said those countries which are among main violators of human rights are sponsors of such resolutions which proves that their reports lack authenticity and legitimacy. The American and Israeli lobbies were the root cause of such resolutions which indicates the instability of UN officials, he said. People of the world know that the Islamic Republic of Iran always backs the legitimate rights of the oppressed, he said. On Syrian developments, he questioned the poor performance of the UN that has kept mum on the crisis in Syria. Large groups of innocent people are now being victimized in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan but no international organizations has taken any concrete action to this end, he criticized. "Why are the crimes being committed by the US in its prisons and in other parts of the world regarded as legitimate but they issue resolution against Iran on baseless charges?" he questioned. UN General Assembly issued a resolution against Iran on the status of human rights on December 19./end
