MP calls for Iran-Algeria cooperation in campaign against terrorism

Tehran, Dec 31, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday that exchange of expertise by Iran and Algeria in campaign against terrorism will play important. Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Algerian Ambassador to Tehran Sofiane Mimouni. Boroujerdi said the two sides should have constant consultations in that domain in line with their nationsˈ interests. He thanked Algerian ambassador for his efforts during his tenure to enhance Iranian ties with his country. He noted that Iranian Majlis is willing to upgrade parliamentary relations. ˈParliamentary relations in various levels can serve as a proper means for enhanced cooperation in political, economic and commercial sectors. Mimouni for his part said his country is interested in expansion of relations with Iran in different fields. ˈCurrent relations between the two countries presently are not in tandem with current capacities and promotion of the ties up to the favorable level will depend on cooperation between the two governments, exploring of current capacities for cooperation and optimal use of them.ˈ He referred to the menaces of terrorism for global security, peace and tranquility and said formation and strengthening terrorist groups by western governments and their allies are aimed to tarnish image of Islam and divide the Muslims, so Muslims should thwart their plots./end
