MP: Closure of Canada Embassy In Tehran, Sign Of NAM Meet Success

Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA – Member of Iranian Parliament Mansour Haqiqatpour said Canada’s hostile decision to close down its embassy in Tehran is a sign of success of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit. The parliamentarian who is deputy chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis told IRNA on Saturday that the closing down of the embassy was a psychologically and politically imbalanced behavior. He also said the Canadian government took the measure under the political pressures of the Zionist regime. The MP further stressed that Iran and other NAM members will surely respond to the decision in a proper manner. Referring to the hostile measures taken by the Canadian government against the Iranian nationals living there as well as the Iranian nation, he explained that the bullying powers were angry with the outcome of the recent NAM Summit in Tehran and therefore embarked on non-diplomatic behaviors. In a statement on Friday, the Canadian government announced the closure of its embassy in Tehran and gave five days to Iranian diplomats in Canada to leave the country. Commenting on the issue, Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, said that the incumbent Canadian government with Stephen Harper as Prime Minister is known with radical views in foreign policy. "Hostile attitude of the Canadian racist government is indeed pursuing the policies as dictated by the Zionist regime and the UK," Mehmanparast added. He pointed out that the closure of the Canadian Embassy in Tehran is in line with Harper's anti-Iran policies and an obvious breach of international laws./end
