MP Criticizes German Police’s Mistreatment Of Iranian Diplomat

Tehran, July 9, IRNA – Spokesman for Majlis (Parliament) Legal and Judicial Commission Mohammad Ali Esfanani strongly criticized the mistreatment of an Iranian diplomat of Iran’s Consulate in Frankfurt by German police. He said that such behavior was according to a predetermined scenario by certain countries that cannot witness Iran’s progress in different areas. 'Diplomats of each country enjoy immunity in a foreign country. The mistreatment of German police against a member of Iranian consulate in Frankfurt is actually violation of international regulations,' Esfanani told IRNA's correspondent in an exclusive interview. He pointed out that they really want to downgrade the status of the IR of Iran in international circles. 'Such attitude by German police is in line with confronting Iran,' the official added. According to a predetermined scenario, an Iranian diplomat working in Iranian Consulate in Frankfurt was attacked by a black African woman and unfortunately German police instead of confronting the assailant on Iranian diplomat, they had unacceptable behavior towards the diplomat which was against diplomatic ethics and manner. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Majlis and Iranians Affairs, Hassan Qashqavi, in reaction to what happened to the diplomat in Frankfurt condemned the misbehavior of German police vis-à-vis the diplomat. Qashqavi called for expediting the investigation into the incident . The diplomat noted that the Iranian Embassy in Berlin and the Iranian consulate in Frankfurt are following up the matter with German officials./end
