MP Delivers Larijani’s Message To Azeri Speaker

Baku, Sept 25, IRNA – Iranian parliamentary delegation, led by MP Javad Jahangirzadeh, on Tuesday delivered a message of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to Azeri Speaker of Parliament Ogtay Asadov. Jahangirzadeh, who is also member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, referred to longstanding cultural, lingual and religious commonalities of Iran and Azerbaijan, saying they would serve as a suitable ground for expansion of mutual ties. He said that Iranian and Azeri parliaments can play an important role to enhance level of bilateral ties and that friendship between Iranian and Azeri speakers would be useful in this respect. Voicing Iranian support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, he noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help settlement of Karabakh dispute with Armenia to stabilize security in the region. The Azeri speaker for his part extended his warm greetings to his Iranian counterpart, saying glorious presidential election in Iran is a proof democracy in Iran. He said that Iranian President Hassan Rohani in his speech at the swearing-in ceremony revealed his deep and long-term program for constructive engagement with the world. Welcoming exchange of delegations between Iranian and Azeri parliaments and the Friendship Groups, the Azeri official said that such links would strengthen friendship between the two nations. On Karabakh, he hoped that in light of global peace efforts, especially the support of regional states and of Iran for peace between the Armenian and Azeri republics, the Armenian government will hand over the detached part of Azerbaijan to make peace./
