MP denounces government's ‘green light’ to US

TEHRAN, Feb.1 (MNA) – Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission spokesman has criticized the government for nominating different envoy other than Abutalebi as ‘green light’ for relations with US. Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini told Mehr News that nominating Gholamali Khoshrou would mean making major concession and green light for seeking better relations with the US. “Aboutalebi was Iran’s first nominee for the position of the country’s permanent envoy to the UN; however, the US denied a visa for him in flagrant violation of international law,” said Naqavi Hosseini, “at that time, Iran vowed to stand in its position, insisting on its nomination of Aboutalebi.” Naqavi Hosseini, parliamentarian representing Varamin constituency in the Parliament, believed that nominating Gholamali Khoshrou in the face of the US intransigence was abandoning Iran’s rights, since making concessions against US would not be distinctive of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s official line of policy; “the government preferred nominating another person other than Aboutalebi rather than to insist on its demand,” he complained. “Mr. Khoshrou is an associate of president Rouhani’s; if government gives in to the excessive demands of the US, they will claim more territory and leverage in nuclear negotiations,” Naqavi Hosseini said. “Concessions today in UN case would have parallels in concessions in nuclear negotiations, thus losing ground in protecting nation’s rights,” Naqavi Hosseini emphasized, “the US is an epitome of evil against humanity; the prestige of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the world emanates from its defiance of the US,” he said. Naqavi Hosseini believed that these ‘green lights’ would not bring great gains for the Islamic Republic; rather, they would defile the system’s achievements.
