MP: Hizbollah Movement, Honor For Lebanese People, Region

Tehran, Aug 12, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday that Hizobllah is an honor for people of Lebanon and the region. Iran has always emphasized the need for unity in Lebanon. Lebanons Hizbollah is among main factors for preservation of lasting security and peace in the region, said Boroujerdi in a meeting with Lebanese Ambassador in Tehran, Fadi al-Haj in Tehran. The MP underlined importance of Tehran-Beirut relations and said presence of Lebanese President in the swearing-in ceremony of President Hassan Rohani signified special attention leaders of the two countries attach to bilateral ties. He added that Iran's Majlis welcomes any move leading to further expansion of bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural spheres. Describing Lebanon as an important country in the region, he said enemies of Lebanon are against the security and stability of Lebanon, while Iran has always supported unity and integrity of the country. He pointed to ongoing Syrian crisis and said what is happening there shows that big powers cannot resist nations will through war and massacre. The Lebanese diplomat, for his part, referred to sensitive conditions in the region and said Iran shoulders a very important role in preserving the security and peace of the region. It is expected that economic and trade relations between Iran and Lebanon would further expand in parallel with political ties./end
