MP: Iran’s Major Scientific Achievements Made Under Sanctions

Yazd, Dec 9, IRNA – Head of Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday that Iran’s major scientific achievements have been made under the arbitrary sanctions. Addressing a group of university students in this central provincial capital city, the MP said, “If we were not a powerful country in all fields, enemies would treat us in a bullying manner.” Boroujerdi said that the Islamic Revolution adopted the “strategic policy of making a scientific renaissance”. Referring to the breakthrough made in the process of decade-long dispute between Iran and the western governments over the national nuclear program, the MP said if western states fail to keep their words, then we are not obliged to act upon our commitments.” Iran and members of the Group 5+1 (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) reached an agreement in Geneva on November 24 after five days of intensive discussions on a step-by-step settlement of the nuclear dispute which would lead to a comprehensive agreement./end
