MP: Media Should Help Bolster National Unity In Syria

Tehran, March 3, IRNA – Vice-chairman for Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group Lale Eftekhari said on Sunday that it is expected all media and reporters play their significant role to boost national solidarity and reconciliation in Syria in order to seriously deal with the plots hatched by foreign countries. Eftekhari made the remarks in a meeting with a group of reporters from Syria. The reporters bridge the gap between people and officials, she said. She admitted that reporters are exposed to many threats while carrying out their duties. The Syrian people deserve the right to administer their own fate and under no circumstance let the aliens interfere in their affairs, she said. The member of parliament from Tehran constituency said that the enemies mainly the extremists threaten national solidarity of all countries, calling for convergence of the Islamic Ummah to thwart the threats. She said that war and hostility emanate from the bullying nature of the global arrogance, citing the eight-year US-backed war on Iran waged by Saddam Hussein of iraq in 1980-1988. She highlighted the significant role of women before and after triumph of the Islamic Revolution and in the course of the sacred defense to repulse the Iraqi invasion on Iran in 1980./end
