MP: Minor Issues Should Not Affect Iran-Egypt Ties

Tehran, Nov 7, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday that minor issues should not affect Iran-Egypt ties. Boroujerdi told Head of Egypt Interest Section in Tehran Khalid al-Said Ibrahim Amari that there are many areas for joint cooperation between Iran and Egypt. He said deep cultural and religious bonds and common stances on Muslim world issues provide a suitable ground for consolidation of mutual relations. He said Iran is ready to put its experience at the disposal of Egypt as it has made many scientific, technological and industrial achievements. Cooperation between Iran and Egypt as the two key Muslim states can help solve many problems facing Muslims and promote unity and solidarity among Muslim states. The Egyptian official for his part said his government and nation are keen on expanding ties with Iran. He said Iran and Egypt enjoy many capacities for cooperation, especially in the industrial, commercial, tourism and cultural sectors. He added that Iran and Egypt believe in diplomatic solution to Syrian crisis, favoring dialogue and negotiation as the key to stability and calm in the country. He noted that his country wants cooperation with Iran within the frameworks of quartet plan for settlement of Syrian crisis./end
