MP: President Reported To Parliament On NY Visit

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani in a joint session of his cabinet with a number of the Islamic Parliament members Tuesday night presented a report on his visits with counterparts and prime ministers in New York, evaluating the visit as “Positive”. The report meanwhile included points on the country’s economic problems, the country’s current liquidity, the delayed debts, the government’s efforts aimed at lowering the soaring inflation rate in short term and kick-starting the Iranian economy’s growth trend, according to a presiding board member of the Parliament, Abdol-Reza Mesri. He further informed IRNA that Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, too, said in the meeting that the literature used by the president and his stands at during his New York visit were beneficial and constructive, and appreciated President Rohani for the prestigious stands he and his accompanying delegation had adopted. Mesri added, “The Parliament speaker also opined about the need to pay attention to country’s budget in heeding the country’s ongoing affairs and economic developments, the credit lines for development projects, paying the debts to the contractors, and heeding the people’s problems, including the high inflation rate and unemployment. Mesri meanwhile noted, “In the joint session of the Parliament and the government Larijani also asked for interactions between the two forces and avoiding engagements in matters of trivial importance and politicizing of the government.” The meeting between a numbers of Iranian MPs including Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani with the new government was held at the presidential compound. It was the first joint meeting between the parliament and the new government. Ways to further promote interaction between the government and the parliament and the country’s current problems will also be discussed during the meeting. Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Deputy Speaker Mohammad-Reza Bahonar, head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ala’eddin Boroujerdi and head of Parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission Gholam-Reza Mesbahi-Moqaddam will deliver speeches in the meeting./end
