MP Says Extremism Bears No Fruit, Highlighting Outcome Of Presidential Election

Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA -- Member of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abbasali Mansouri said on Saturday that extremism bears no fruit for the country and those people who voted for Prudence and Moderation in the presidential elections on June 14 have made determination for the platform. Speaking to IRNA, he praised President Hassan Rohani for successful diplomacy he put forward to the international community in his address to the UN General Assembly. President Rohani successfully expressed the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran within principles and values of the Islamic Revolution, he said. He denounced extremism which prevailed over the Middle East causing mass killing of innocent people in terrorist attacks and indiscriminate bombardment of civilians in the name of international campaign against terrorism. World countries have reached the conclusion that extremism takes them to nowhere, he underlined. Rationality and wisdom are the best means to restore peace and security in the international community, he underlined. The country’s national interests will be met through moderation and rationality and extremism takes us to no where, he said. Unfortunately, in some cases we have engaged in extremism and the passage of time indicated that they were futile and inflicted irreparable damages on national interest, he said. He said that extremism would be eradicated through raising the awareness of people to the national interest./end
