MP: Supporters Of Terrorists In Syria Are Against Iran's 6-point Plan

Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA - Member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Hassan Asafari said on Tuesday that those countries sponsoring terrorism and violence in Syria are against Iran's 6-point plan on Syrian crisis. Speaking to IRNA, he said countries like the United States of America benefits from escalation of violence in Syria and for this reason they have rejected Iran's six-point plan. To attain the goal, those supporting tourism should halt shipment of weapons to Syria, he said. Certain countries try to find a permanent base in the Middle East region, he said. The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday in which it released the details of the six-point proposal that Iran has put forward to help resolve the crisis in Syria. The new six-point plan is as follows: 1. Immediate cessation of violent and armed confrontation under the supervision of the UN forces; in this stage, government and warring factions must immediately end their military actions, especially in residential areas, and to stabilize the situation and peace, cooperate with UN envoy and committee headed by him. 2. Immediately after ending exchange of fire, humanitarian aid must, seriously and without discrimination, be provided for the Syrian people in affected areas. To guarantee this, it is important that economic sanctions on Syria cease to affect, and return of refugees to their residence is facilitated. 3. Along with restoration of peace, national dialogue is pursued by representatives of all political and social groups and the Syrian Government to form a national reconciliation committee. This dialogue should pave the way to form a transition government with all groups’ consensus. The main role of this government, is to hold a free and fair elections to form a new parliament, and the constituent assembly, to draft the constitution, and to hold presidential elections in due time. 4. All individuals detained merely for their political views and/or activities, from any group or denomination, must be immediately released by the government and warring groups. The qualified courts will hear the cases of those who have committed crime. 5. Disinformation and misinformation process must be ended as soon as possible. All media and the press should have space to broadcast the events from Syria to other parts and must be able to do their job without preconceptions and discrimination of any kind. 6. Damage assessment and reconstruction committee should be established. Given the damages wrought on Syrian infrastructures, the duty of the committee will be developing proper mechanisms for receiving and channeling foreign aids, setting priorities, and setting the mechanisms whereby organizations and friendly countries participate in construction process./end
