MP: US Admits Iranˈs Enrichment Right

Tehran, Feb 17, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaˈeddin Boroujerdi, said on Sunday that the US has admitted Iranˈs right to uranium enrichment. Talking to head of a Brasilian parliamentary delegation Senator Valder Raot in Tehran on Sunday, Boroujerdi said the US had tried for 10 years to stop Iranˈs uranium enrichment but to no avail. ˈToday the country has admitted Iranˈs right to enrichment. In simple words, this means the US has submitted to the Islamic Republic of Iranˈs will,ˈ said Boroujerdi. He said Iran and Brazil enjoy many opportunities and capacities for close cooperation based on mutual interests and respect. He referred to the high number of elections held in Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said everything in Iran ranging from designation of leader to rural elections are based on public will. The MP said there is a council in Iran called Experts Assembly, whose members are elected by the public and it works under supervision of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. He then touched on position of Majlis in political structure of Iran and said no official in Iran can dissolve parliament while such a thing is possible in many other countries. ˈThe Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic system will never agree to follow the policies of the US or any other countries despite the fact that this policy has cost it dearly,ˈ he added. The US imposed sanctions on Iran in the first decade after the victory of Islamic Revolution, while in the past all Iranian facilities were American made to the extent that only two countries, i.e. Iran and the US, had F14 fighter jets and after 40 years, Iran is still using it, he added. On nuclear issue and illegal sanctions imposed on Iran, Boroujerdi said the western sanctions on Iran had many blessings for the Iranian nation, leading it to progress in various technical and other scientific fields. ˈIranˈs power is based on deterrence minus atomic bombs because we believe atom bombs will not bring power,ˈ he added./end
