MPR Chairman Invited To Afghanistan

Jakarta, Dec 14 (ANTARA) - The chairman of Indonesia`s People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Taufik Kiemas, has been invited to visit Afghanistan to increase cooperation between the two countries. The invitation was presented by the chief of the Afghan Senate delegation, Fazed Haddi Muslimyar, at a dinner held in their honor here on Tuesday. In his speech on the occasion Taufik Kiemas said he hoped the visit of the Afghan delegation could become the opener of an increased cooperation between the two countries. "It is hoped the visit will increase cooperation between the two countries," he said. During the visit to Indonesia, the Afghan Senate delegation also met with House Speaker Marzuki Alie. During the meeting Fazel expressed the wish for assistance from Indonesia to help Afghanistan`s restoration. "We wish Indonesia could help us to boost our country`s recovery process to make it better," he said. The assistance expected include police education by Indonesian police, scholarships for Afghanistan youths and an Islamic Center by the Indonesian government. In response Marzuki Alie said Indonesia is an open country and certainly it will not be difficult if Afghanistan wishes to build relations with the country. "We are always open to build relations with any country especially with Afghanistan that has common backgrounds such as majority Moslem population which will certainly make it easier for the two countries to build relations," he said. Marzuki said the role of the ambassador would be very important to accelerate the process of relations building between the two countries.
