MPs condemn extension of Iran's sanctions by US House of Representatives

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA – 220 Iranian lawmakers in a statement released on Tuesday condemned extension of Iran's sanctions for another ten years. They also criticized the US House for approving a bill that prevents selling airplanes to Iran. Majlis (parliament) supports government reciprocal actions in case of violation of nuclear deal, the MPs statement added. The statement underlined preserving Iran's peaceful nuclear program achievements. According to Reuters, the US House of Representatives voted by an overwhelming majority of 419 to one for a 10-year reauthorization of the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA), a law first adopted in 1996 to punish investment in Iran's energy industry. The Iran measure could expire at the end of 2016 if it were not renewed. It must still be passed by the Senate and signed by President Barack Obama in order to become a law. 1378/IRNA
