Muallem Categorically Denies Use Of Chemical Weapons By Syrian Govt

Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA – Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammd-Javad Zarif, vehemently denied use of chemical weapons by Syrian Government and said it is a new trick against Syrian people. According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday afternoon, Muallem underlined that the Takfiri and terrorist groups have used chemical weapons and committed the horrible crime. He also underlined that Syrian government is cooperating with the UN investigating delegation, who are now in Syria, and is preparing the opportunity for them to visit areas which have been attacked chemically by the terrorist groups. Meanwhile, he felicitated appointment of his Iranian counterpart and wished him success in his mission. Zarif, for his part, condemned use of chemical weapons by the terrorist groups and said that such acts are contrary to human principles and international regulations and underlined necessity of confrontation with such inhuman acts. He added that any policy, except peaceful settlement of Syrian crisis is doomed to failure and would have catastrophic consequences./end
