Muslim Researcher Defends Iran Peaceful N-program

Pretoria, June 9, IRNA – A Muslim researcher from South Africa, in his book, has logically defended Iranˈs peaceful nuclear program. Haroon Aziz, in his book named ˈThe Science and Politics of Iranˈs Nuclear Power,ˈ has discussed different issues related to politics, science and the distance between them as well as scientific structure of Iranˈs peaceful nuclear activities. The book has also reviewed the policies the world powers and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have adopted towards Iranˈs nuclear program. Referring to Iranˈs nuclear activities before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Aziz has criticized the West for its double-standard approach towards the issue. ˈIn 1967, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran established the Tehran Nuclear Research Center, which operated a 5-megawatt research reactor, which was supplied by the USA,ˈ the researcher has said in his book. The Shah of Iran decided to establish 23 nuclear reactor while being supported by the US, France, Germany and some other states, the book read. Last year, top US nuclear expert Clinton Bastin in an open letter to the US President Barack Obama announced that there was no threat from Iranˈs safeguarded nuclear research program, Aziz said./end
