MWM To Protest Against Possible US Strike On Syria

Islamabad, Sept 9, IRNA – Thousands of Shiites Sunday gathered in the Pakistani capital to condemn terrorism in the country and backed the Syrian government against the possible American military strikes. Leaders of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) announced countrywide protest against possible US attack on Syria on September 13. Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, head of the MWM, told the big gathering that Syrian government had always supported Palestinians against the Zionist attacks. He said that Syrian government backed the armed resistance to Israel and it is the only crime in the eyes of the US-led West and toeing their line remains the tradition of Arab countries therefore they all have joined hands and planning invasion of sovereign Arab Muslim state of Syria. Allama Nasir Jafari announced Pakistani nations strong support to the Syrian government and people and Egyptian nation. He announced that countrywide protest will be staged under the aegis of the MWM on Friday to express solidarity with the oppressed nations of Syria and Egypt. He condemned terrorist attacks in Pakistan and said these elements even targeted senior Sunni religious leaders, including Mufti Hassan Jan and Mufti Sarfaraz Naeemi. The US-led global imperialism in connivance with the Saudi monarchy is using the terrorists as their proxies across the world, let alone Syria,” he maintained citing the financial, logistic and military aid to the terrorists from some countries. He referred to the fact that anti-Syria alliance had not condemned the use of chemical weapons against Iraqi civilians and Iranians for more than two years because of their imperialistic interests. On the other hand, he cited, Syrian government has not used chemical weapons. He praised all the Sunnis who have renounced these terrorists’ activities, adding that Sunnis have announced dissociation with the terrorists and they always asserted them as champions of Sunni-Shia Muslims. Allama Jafari vowed that his supporters would sacrifice their lives and wealth for the sake of Pakistan because Shiites had led the Pakistan Movement and they are on the forefront to defend Pakistan. Thousands of the supporters of the MWM attended the convention in which they paid homage to martyr Allama Arif Hussaini declaring him one of the great martyrs of Pakistan. Allama Jafari said that Pakistani Shia Muslims are on the frontline in defensive war of Pakistani nation against the terrorists. In the resolutions adopted at the MWM convention, the leading Shiite party vowed to defend Pakistan and Pakistani nation and counter the enemies plots aimed at sectarian hatred and terrorism. The MWM urged that all Muslims across the world should beware of the facts about Syria and distinguish between the aggressor and the victim. It urged all the Muslims to create awareness among the Muslim about US plans for attack on Syria. It said that if attacked, Syria would be a point of unity for the Muslims in all over the world and they will bury the arrogant powers with their arrogance. It urged the Muslims to join hands for struggle against the terrorists and the ideology of terrorism. Allama Amin Shaheedi, the deputy secretary general of the MWM, said that the terrorists failed in their plot to subdue Shiites because now Shiite Muslims are on the frontline of Pakistani defence and politics. “Terrorism failed to scare Shiites.
