Nakhchivan hosts 12th meeting of CIS Interstate Council on Industrial Safety

Nakhchivan, September 17 (AzerTAc). Initiated by the CIS Executive Committee, the 12th meeting of the CIS Interstate Council on Industrial Safety has been organized by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. Prior to the meeting, participants from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Moldova and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and UN Economic Commission for Europe put flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev. They also visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum. Opening the meeting, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, lieutenant-general Shami Abdullayev informed attendees on the history, population and territory of Nakhchivan. He said Nakhchivan had been under a blockade for more than 20 years, but thanks to wise economic policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev the Autonomous Republic was rapidly developing. Speaking to the event, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Orujali Hajiyev quoted national leader Heydar Aliyev, saying “It is easier to prevent an emergency situation than to deal with its consequences.” Hajiyev said the aim of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation among the CIS member states. The attendees watched a video on industrial safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan. A message of greetings of CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev to the meeting participants was read out. Azerbaijan took over the presidency of the CIS Interstate Council on Industrial Safety from Belarus.
