NAM Condemns Assassination Of Iranian Diplomat In Yemen

United Nations, Jan 25, IRNA – Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) coordination office in UN issued a statement here Friday strongly condemning the terrorist assassination of Iranian diplomat, Abolqasem Assadi in Yemen. Condoling with the Iranian government and the bereaved family member of the late Iranian economic attaché, Assadi, NAM has also asked for fast identification and punishment of the criminals involved in the terrorist act. Welcoming the joint decision of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Yemen for cooperation in pursuit of the terrorists involved in the act, NAM has also emphasized in the statement that all types of terrorism pose serious threats against the international peace and security, and are condemned and unjustifiable regardless of their incentives and causes. NAM has also stressed the need to fight against all threat against the international peace and security based on the UN Charter and the UN Human Rights Declaration, as well as respecting the immunity and safeguarding the security of the foreign countries’ diplomatic missions in world countries by the host government in accordance with the Vienna international consular and political conventions. Abolqasem Assadi, 57, financial and consulate officer of Iran’s embassy in Sana’a was assassinated by gunmen in the center of the city on Jan 18./end
