NAM Condemns Violation Of HR By Zionist Regime

New York, Nov 10, IRNA – The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) condemned the violation of human rights, construction of settlements and siege of Gaza by the Zionist regime. It also called on the international community to take immediate and practical measures to stop the Zionist regime’s non-human activities. Deputy of the Iranian mission to the United Nations Es’haq Al-e Habib made the remarks on behalf of the NAM member states in his speech in the meeting of the Special Political and Decolonization Committee which focused on an investigative report on the Zionist regime's violation of the rights of the Palestinian nation and inhabitants of other occupied Arab lands. He referred to massive imprisonment of Palestinian citizens, demolition of their houses for making new settlements, extensive violence exercised by dwellers of Zionist townships against Palestinians and continuation of siege of Gaza as sources of grave concern and stressed NAM’s insistence on need for the Zionist regime to respect and observe human rights, international humanitarian rights and end to its immunity. Pointing to numerous cases of human rights violations exercised against thousands of Palestinian citizens including women and children, he called for immediate release of all Palestinian prisoners. The Iranian official also stressed that based on the committee’s latest report, the siege of Gaza has been of very adverse outcomes for its inhabitants. He said the NAM member states condemns the non-human and illegal siege and regards it as an example of collective punishment of Palestinian citizens which hinders reconstruction of Gaza Strip by restricting movement of people and commodities. He declared that the NAM believed that given the illegal measures made by the Zionists in the occupied lands, true peace negotiations with the regime is not possible./end
