National Reconciliation, Free Election, Only Way Out Of Syrian Crisis

Baku, Oct 17, IRNA -- National reconciliation and holding free elections are the only way out of the current Syrian crisis, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 12th Summit of heads of State/Government of Economic Cooperation Organization in Baku. Ahmadinejad said everybody must have sense of responsibility to Syrian people's rights, respect them and help them enjoy their own rights. He said that war in Syria is useless and disputes bear no fruits and interests for any side of Syrian conflict, adding that the only way out of the Syrian internal crisis is that they must hold a free election with the help of their effective and influential neighboring countries like Iran and Turkey. Ahmadinejad called for ceasefire in Syria before holding a free election and reaching a national understanding. Erdogan underlined Iran and Turkey cooperation and said Iran and Turkey enjoy high potentials to further expand their relations. "Turkey is struggling to further strengthen and reinforce the existing ties with Iran." Pointing to Syrian issues, he said the Syrians must form special groups to find suitable solution to their problems./end
