Navy Foils Pirate Attack On Iranian Oil Tanker

Tehran, June 28, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s naval forces have successfully foiled a pirate attack on an Iranian oil tanker in the Red Sea, off the coast of Somalia, it was reported on Saturday. Seven speed boats belonging to the pirates tried to hijack an Iranian vessel but fled after the 30th Fleet of the Iranian Navy arrived on the scene. He added that the 30th fleet of the Iranian Navy clashed with pirates before they fled. In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters aimed at protecting naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers./end
