Navy Providing Security For Shipping Lines In Int'l Waters

Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA – Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Saturday that Iranian naval force has provided security for shipping lines in international waters. Speaking in a gathering of navy personnel, the commander said in addition to safeguarding security of the national marine borders, Iran’s Navy has successfully provided security for shipping lines in a 3,000-km distance far from its national borders. Sayyari added that over the past four years, Iranian oil tankers and commercial vessels were safely passing through national and international waters thanks to the efforts of the country’s naval forces. There would be no exports without security in marine borders, said the commander, stressing that Iran’s Navy was in addition to protecting the country’s marine borders was protecting its economy too./end
