NECC Chairman Supports New Line and Policies on National Reunification

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- Pang Kang Su, chairman of the National Economic Cooperation Committee (NECC), made public a statement on Friday in support of the Juche-oriented line and policies for national reunification advanced by supreme leader Kim Jong Un at the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. The statement said: Kim Jong Un in his historic report clarified the orientation and ways to build an independent and prosperous reunified power as desired by all Koreans as early as possible by holding high the banner of national independence and great national unity and struggling to ensure durable peace on the Korean peninsula and reunify the country by federal formula. Our nation proud of having a history spanning 5 000 years and brilliant culture has stood in antagonism and confrontation, divided into the north and the south for over 70 years. Consequently, the uniform development of the national economy has been hindered and foreign forces are given the chance to fish in troubled waters. Such self-ruinous act is disgrace to the nation which can never be tolerated any longer. When reunified, our country will demonstrate its dignity and grandeur as a world power with 80 million population and enormous national power, a nation of advanced civilization capable of outpacing other countries in the world by dint of indomitable national spirit and unexcelled resourcefulness, and a nation of justice playing a leading role in ensuring peace in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.
